Juniors from Chadron, Fort Calhoun win royalty vote
Ashley Riesen of Chadron and Adam Neumann of Fort Calhoun were crowned Chadron State College’s homecoming queen and king Thursday night during a spirit rally at the Student Center.
Riesen is a junior studying nutrition and wellness, and is in the pre-nursing program. She was nominated by the Night of Country Swing dance club and is a member of the Eagles' track and field team. She is a graduate of Chadron High School and is the daughter of Clayton and Julie Riesen.
Neumann, also a junior, studies geoscience and was nominated by the Campus Activities Board. He graduated from Fort Calhoun High School and is the son of Dave and Kim Neumann.
Riesen and Neumann topped a field of 54 candidates in an online vote of the student body to claim the top honors. They will preside during the remainder of activities for CSC’s homecoming and centennial celebration, which wraps up Saturday night with fireworks.
As a change from years past, the CSC Student Senate opted to not release the order of voting for the royalty attendants.
The attendants to the queen, in alphabetical order, are Stephanie Eggleston of North Platte, Kaelie Jelden of Greeley, Colo., Christine Kambarami of Rangoon, Burma, and April Stangle of Hemingford.
The runners-up in the competition for king are Mikah Kadera of Sheridan, Wyo., Kyle Klammer of Ainsworth, Bryant Pritchett of Littleton, Colo., and Tanner Sherlock of Hemingford.
